Asking for help without managing everyone's help

Why 'just tell me what you need' is the hardest sentence to answer, and how a specific ask changes it.

Most partners want to help. Most of them say the same thing: just tell me what you need. It sounds generous. To a tired mother it is another task: work out what you need, decide if it is reasonable, phrase it, and manage the follow-up.

Specific beats sincere

Thirty minutes alone at four. Dinner handled. No questions right now. A specific ask can be answered with a single word. A general one starts a negotiation.

What Ask for Help does

It turns a hard day into one small request, phrased so that the other person can just say yes. It does not send your mood history or your score. It sends the ask.

What comes next

Care Circle will give partners, family and a nanny their own view, each with only what their role needs. Shared care, not shared everything.
